Maynard Brandsma of DFRA passed away this past Monday. He was a volunteer Lt. and was very active with DFRA. There will be a memorial service on Sunday, July 26th, at 1930. It will be held at the Christ the King Lutheran Church, 495 Florida Road, Durango. Please keep Maynard, his family and the DFRA family in your thoughts and prayers.

Engine 74 has been placed out of service due to the unreliability of the fire pump. It will be stripped of its equipment in the very near future, and that equipment will be placed on other trucks in the fleet. After working on this pump over the past 2 years, and many hours have been spent on it, the lack of available parts, I have decided that we can no longer keep this truck in service as a structure engine.

The truck itself runs fine and we have had no problems with it. Later this year or over the winter we will convert the truck for other uses.

Hope everyone is having a good summer,

San Juan College is offering 2 Fire Instructor I courses this summer. Attached are the flyers for the classes. The first will be held every Monday night from 1800 – 2200 starting July 6. The second class will be held in one week on August 10 thru 14, 800 – 1700. For the one week course, the students are required to read chapters 1 thru 13 of the text book and complete the same chapters in the study guide prior to the start of the class. This is due to the short amount of time for home work in the class. Keep in mind that there will be other home work for the class other than reading.

Please call with questions.

Thanks,
