The Fort Lewis Mesa Fire Protection District (FLMFPD) Board of Directors has authorized the question of a 1.5 mill levy increase to be placed on the May ballot for the voters of the district. The election will be conducted through a mail-in ballot process. Eligible voters will receive their ballots by mail for voting. The election will conclude on May 4, 2010.

The FLMFPD encompasses approximately 250 square miles, from the Colorado/New Mexico state line on Highway 140, to the top of Hesperus Hill, to the county line at the top of Mancos Hill, to the bottom of Blue Hill in Wildcat Canyon and also includes La Plata Canyon.  Blog Minimize

In the exploration of ways to make the web site easier to update I took a closer look at the concept of blogging as a means for posting announcements, articles, etc. This is how it works:

·         Anyone in our department who has a valid account on our web site AND permission can create a blog.

·         The blog can be moderated if desired, comments can be posted, etc.

·         User can post to their blog from the web site, or from tools such as Windows Live Writer (FREE) or Word 2007 ($$$). Posts can be public or private.

·         The blogs are displayed in a common viewer on our web site. We can make that viewer private or public. The blogs can also be filtered by name of the blogger and by month. The blogs are also searchable.

I defined a new tab on the web site called BLOG so you can see a few examples. I took the...

This is a post to the site using Word 2007. With this I want to be able to show how simple it is to embed a picture into a post complete with rich formatting.

For example here is a bulleted list of some of our apparatus:

There is a way to be able to set text wrapping options for these things, but it's beyond my skill level.

San Juan College is offering 2 Fire Instructor I courses this summer. Attached are the flyers for the classes. The first will be held every Monday night from 1800 – 2200 starting July 6. The second class will be held in one week on August 10 thru 14, 800 – 1700. For the one week course, the students are required to read chapters 1 thru 13 of the text book and complete the same chapters in the study guide prior to the start of the class. This is due to the short amount of time for home work in the class. Keep in mind that there will be other home work for the class other than reading.

Please call with questions.

Thanks,
